I honestly never liked beetroot. It feels to me like eating a spoonful of soil.
But it lowers blood pressure, boosts exercise stamina, reduces inflammation, and is packed with antioxidants. I have to admit: beetroot is pretty good! It's especially good for kids too: the iron and folate support healthy brain development and red blood cell production, while the natural fiber helps their developing digestive systems.
So why does it taste so terrible? I found my trick: a beetroot a day, blended into a morning smoothie — and voilà, I'm glowing, and I don't taste the beetroot at all.
Ingredients
(serves 1-2)
1 beetroot
1 glass yogurt
1 glass water
1 spoon peanut butter
1 banana
Directions
Peel and roughly chop the beetroot.
Add all ingredients to a blender.
Blend until smooth. Enjoy!
Tip: drink it fresh! Once blended, the smoothie starts to oxidize, and some of those vitamins fade fast — best enjoyed right after making it.
